Tordenskjold Selected as Official Supplier for DALO at NATO BALTOPS 2024

Tordenskjold has been officially contracted by the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) to support NATO BALTOPS 2024 with advanced maritime surveillance capabilities,focusing on detecting dark ships.

The BALTOPS 2024 exercise, held in the Baltic Sea, involves 18 NATO nations. Tordenskjold provided near-real-time analysis of SAR imagery, enhancing situational awareness by identifying vessels operating without AIS transponders. Intelligence reports were delivered directly to DALO, the NATO command in Munich, and deployed naval units, offering critical insights to enhance operational effectiveness.

Kristian got the award due to the following reason: 'Kristian S is an Earth Observation specialist currently engaged in doctoral studies at National Space Institute of Denmark. His passion for advancing maritime domain awareness (MDA) led him to explore the intersection of satellite data and artificial intel- ligence. Focusing on revolutionizing maritime surveillance, His research revolves around integrating various satellite data types, including Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images, Automatic Identification System (AIS) data, optical imagery, and Radio Frequency data. Through his pioneering work, he aims to enhance ship detection accuracy and develop innovative methodologies for fusing diverse datasets. His commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology and data fusion techniques holds the promise of significantly bolstering global maritime security. His efforts have far-reaching implications, promising to redefine navigation accuracy, facilitate resource management, and elevate the standards of maritime safety on a global scale.'

Tordenskjold has been accepted into the European Space Agency’s Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) Denmark, receiving funding and expert support to advance maritime surveillance technology.

As part of ESA BIC, Tordenskjold will develop innovative AI-based solutions for real-time ship detection using satellite data, strengthening its position as a key player in space-based maritime intelligence.
